Again, we had an amazing gathering at our Quarterly NAACP Florida State Conference meeting on April 17-18, 2026, which proved both informative and valuable. We are pleased to announce the NAACP’s renewed partnership with the American Red Cross and look forward to utilizing their training opportunities at our branches. The Environmental Climate Justice Committee presented compelling insights regarding a railroad tie fire that occurred in Dunnellon, Florida, and its impact on the community, underscoring the importance of our involvement in environmental justice initiatives.
The Business Session provided further useful information. Mr. Leon Russell, Chairman of the National NAACP Board of Directors, motivated attendees to continue advocating for civil rights and to focus on membership growth. Vice President Cynthia Slater provided important updates on civic engagement, highlighting legislative activities and strategies for increasing voter participation. We also gained more information from several other presenters, which underscored the fact that there is much to be done. Concluding remarks from President Donald Hart, Sr., left us with a strong, unifying message: “One Band, One Sound.”
